Some more pictures

Time goes by so quikly

Its Oktober...!!!! and its getting warmer and warmer

Everyday something new happens at the children home, a big home like this with 35 children needs attention 24/7. Some days we are exhausted but most of the days are quite happy:)

We as a family are trying to adjust to our new life here in Paraguay.
We are trying to manage spanish without our translator(Miriam...we miss you so much...) and trying to find a rythm in our daily life.
this morning I woke up at 4:30 to take one of the girls to the doctor. We had to stand in lines for many hours just to take a blood test. That is just the way it is on a publick hospital in Paraguay. If you are fortunate enough to be able to pay for private hospitals, its another story. You will get wonderful service at any hour of day.
Our children home does not have foundings to go to private hospitals with the kids, so we have to show patience and be willing to stand in lines for hours and hours.
Thank Good for giving me patience....please give me more..On friday I will take 6 more kids to the doctor and on monday we have to go again, so there will be many early mornings.

This week the youngest kid here (25 months) has moved into our sleepingroom during nights, because she didnt get enough sleep at the dorm with the other kids. Now she is sleeping 12 hours every nights and she is in much better health, than when she arrived last month. its been many years since we have had toddlers in our house so this is quite a change but very cosy aswell.
Dear friends, please pray for this little girl and her family, they really need your prayers.

Our weekend project with the oldest girls (8 girls) is going quite well, but it is also a bit challenging having responsability for so many teenagers. (Again..."Please Lord give me patience")Tonight we have been discussing with them if they should be able to have cell phones and facebook. If they should be alloved to use the electric washing mashine for their clothes in weekends or not. So we are trying to work with them on what is fair and what it meens to take responsability and so on.

We are facing a lot of challenges, we need to make many upgrades  at the childrens bathrooms, sleeping accomodations and school rooms and more. We also would like to give the kids better school options and our dream is to be able to send them to a christian private school because the public school far away from beeing good enough. We need to food and clothing for the kids. We need a bigger car to be able to get around whit the kids. (this weekend we were 14 people in our 7 seater...) We need vitamins and medicins, and of course we need to be able to pay salaries to our staff. But with Gods help, he has provided and we believe that he will continue on providing.

I would like to send out big hugs and gratitude to all of our sponcors and friends who are helping out:)

The "school room"
Everyday our teatcher helps the kids with their homework here. But the room is small and we are planing to change our "play house" that isnt much used, into a new and better school room, play room, and computer room for the kids. So now we are trying to find ways to found this changes. We need new computers and school desks for the kids  and we are hoping for aircondition so the children can consentrate, doing their homework in the heat. This "old school room" we like to change into a storageroom. The room we now are using for empty beds, christmas decorations and much more, is going to bee the new office for The salvation Army district Paraguay.

Cleaning day in our "private" appartement

All of the kids need to do their tasks during the day

The young boys dorm. We are hoping to bee able to upgrade, paint and change the sleeping accomondations for the kids. These next months:)

Our "play house" That soon will be divided into more rooms, for the homework, computers and playtime.

The dorms really needs new painting on the wall, and we would like to make it more colorful, cosy and homy for the children.

Our two oldest sisters, Always smiling:)

Our daughter Moira with one of her friends at the home

For us as family, it is a bit challenging not having a dish washing mashine...when you are used to have one, it is a bit difficult to "go back"...some days its a tower of glass and dishes because all of us think that we are way to busy for doing the dish washing (but really we just are to lacy)...But after some time (days...) we all have to help out getting rid of the dish tower.

A hole in the roof at the "school room" that needs to be fixed

The kids get to practice "tai Kwondo" for free, every week. One of our boys is Paraguayn champion in his agegroup.

We are really greatful for all of  our sponcors and friend for donating money, clothes or things to the children home. If you want to help us aswell, please contact us or The Salvation Army where you live.

Blessings to you all:)

Helgekos og Filmkveld

Prayer request

Please pray for the children and staff on "El Redil" Children home.
We are struggling with some kind of flue and there are children getting sick everyday.
Our cook Senora Angela and her husband had a motorcycle accident last Saturday and she is not able to work this week and we don't know about the next week.
Senora Alicia who works nightshifts is also sick.

Thank God my aunt Miriam is better after being ill for a week. Luckily it was not djenghe fever, but it was a virus a littlebit similar to djenghe. Silje is also good again.
Thanks for your prayers

New Blogger:)

Well well.
We have never blogged before and I forgot right away how to log myself in. But hopefully I have learned it now.

A lot has happened these last weeks. The weather has changed back an forward between 2 C to 36 C and we have all catched some cold. Aunt Miriam and Silje have been sick but hopefully the weather will start to get more stabil .

By the way...sorry about my bad english...Norwegian, Icelandic, Dutch and Learning Spanish is quite confusing....I was trying to speak Dutch to my mother in law on skype but it all came out in Spanish..and now Im struggeling aswell with my English.
But since most of our family and friends understand English we will try to use that Language in this blog.

Finally Wouter and I have our immigration papers ready (after having visited a lot of Offices and payed a LOT of money for all different kinds of stamps). Our childrens papers will hopefully soon be ready aswell. We are still waiting for some papers from the paraguayn embassy in London.
But we are really, really happy for that our container has  arrived and we have our things here (But I dont understand why I packed with us 20 table clothes but I forgot our guitar and Arons "bass forsterker" (Have no idea what the English Word is..... Suddenly we really feel at home.
The best of all is all the Icelandic Liquris I had put in the container :) We also had with us a lot of second hands clothes from "Hertex Reykjanesbær" and all of the kids and the staff at "el Redil" have recieved  new clothes and they are so greatful. Next week we will take some clothes with us to the indian village (They are extremely poor there). Then we will try to sell rest of the clothes on a fund raising marked for the corps.

There has been some changes here at the children home last week. Some of the oldest girls are not able (or it is not safe for them) to go home in weekends so we do now have 7 extra kids in during the weekends. We think we will need to continue to have some of the children here during the whole week so now we are trying to get more foundings to the childrens home. We need to hire one employee in weekends, and we also need  continue to have an employee on night shift. Last year when we were here it was only a dog on night shift so we are really happy now for havin senora Alicia here during the nights instead of the dog. She also does some cleaning and laundry during the night so we are really happy about that.

We also need to safe up money for a minibus (15 seats). Now we have a car with 8 seats. The children have a 20 min. walk to school and when the weather is bad and its raining we need to take them to school with the car. Sometimes we are 17 people in the car...normal here but not safe and we do not like it. The aircondition in the car is broken and  it also need some reperations.  In weekends we now are 12-14 people and we need to get around to church and also to take some trips with the kids and get away from the home.
So please pray for us that we will get foundings for this, if you are able to help us, please contact us.

We also need to do some changes in the childrens sleeping rooms and bathrooms, aswell we dream of getting a copymashine here  for both the childrens home and the Salvation Army division and corps here in Paraguay. And while I am dreaming...what about getting an aircondition in some of the rooms in the children home and getting a dish washing mashine!!!. But I know that there are many other more important things we need money for first. The most important thing is to be able to keep all our staff and pay them sallaries and to make sure that the children here hafe food, School and all they need to be safe and happy here on "El Redil".

Its so wonderful to experience the joy and trust in God, that the children here have. We really feel at home here, after just a month. Aron, Moira and Silje are adjusting better for each day and we are so greatful for "ACA, Asuncion Christian Academy" for beeing so understanding and taking so good care of them. It is a big change for the kids having to use English all the time in school and also learning Spanish but they are doing very well. The most challenging thing is the amount of homework they have to do and we need to help them at least 3 hours everyday so its hard work.

Now I need to stop this writing
One of the Girls in the children home is turning 10 years old today, but now the School has called, she is sick and I need to pick her up and get her back here because she is sick.

Hasta luego - Dios Bendiga
